Unfortunately its been awhile since this site was updated. With the loss of Infectious Distributing, Wasa-B and many other labels have been through some hard times in the last year or so. We've still got new releases lined up and we'll be announcing our new distributer soon.
Wasa-B 007 - Defective Audio - (TBA) The next Wasa-B release
has been changed from Eufex 'Sneaky' to a Defective Audio release. Be prepared as Dom never fails to belt out top tunes. We've got 4 more Defective Audio tracks just waiting to come out!!
Join our mailing list for the early announcement on the next Wasa-B release
Wasa-B 006 - Defective Audio "The DOM-N8R EP" was licensed by Tidy Trax for their Insomnia 2 CD (Mixed by Superfast Oz of Kaktai and Bangingtunes.com fame!)
Dec 8th, 2001
Wasa-B 006 -Defective Audio "The DOM-N8R EP"
has continued to keep catching worldwide attention. The lead track
off this EP, "Pump Up The Volume" will be featured on an Ian M
mix CD for Fevah New Zealand. Our thanks go out to Ian M for once
again backing our releases!
For those of you who might have missed the reviews in the latest
issue of "DJ Magazine" (the one with this years Top 100 djs featured)
we'd just like to share the review of 'The DOM-N8R EP' with you.
"Fans of Defective Audio will be foaming at the
mouth at the prospect of the latest reelase on Wasa-B, with three
new tracks from the Brighton based producer spread over two seperate
twelve inches. Lead track for most will be 'Pump Up The Volume',
a viciously hard yet refreshingly funky number, laying a familiar
vocal hook over driving synth riffs. The brisk pace continues
with the percussive driven "On Your Marks", while on a second
disc 'Overdrive Yo Speakers' does exactly as the title suggests,
ratling the speakers with a throbbing bass and rolling rhythyms
for a restless ride. Apparently intent on hogging every last groove
on this release, Defective Audio slips into his Base Graffiti
guise to complete the package with a remix of his 'Pump Up The
Volume' track. 4/5"

Wasa-B 006 - Defective Audio "The Dom-N8R EP"
is out on full release and getting support from Andy Farley,
Ian M, Karim, RR Fierce, Superfast Oz, Paul Glazby, DJ Kristian,
James Lawson, Simon Eve, Rubec, etc etc etc. Huge response
to this double pack, showing the world what Dom Sweeten
(Defective Audio/Base Graffiti and 1/2 of OD404)
is capable of!
Wasa-B 005 - Karim & Kultcha "Wicked" has
received massive support globally from the top jocks, stores,
and magazines. Lots of reviews have been published but here are
two of our favorites:
DJ Magazine (Issue 300) said:
"The
Canadian based Wasa-B label has made a large impact on the scene
since its inception a year ago, and on the latest release, Wasa-B's
very own dj Kultcha makes an appearance, having joined forces
with Karim for another restless production. Filtered Riffs and
bubbling analogue sounds provide the backbone for "Wicked",
a lively arrangement with no shortage of unexpected twists along
the way. Needless to say, the trusty hoover makes an appearance,
and is fully unleashed in the breakdown to fire the track into
the home straight with all guns blazing. Banga Matt provides
an equally thumping remix that employs grungy bass stabs and
squelching riffs for a mean and moody floor shaker. 4/5"
Muzik Magazine (November Issue) said:
"Wasa-B's founder Kultcha teams up with
Karim for a storming Base Graffiti-esque slice of futuristic
funk, twittering fiercely and laced with smart hoovers and clever
vocal bites. The Banga Matt remix is in Matt's dark and minimal
NRG style, and it compliments the other mix superbly. 4/5"

Wasa-B 004 - Eufex "Manipulate / Feel So Real"
- whites have sold out - full release has been pushed back to
June 20th due to further pressing backlogs. In hot demand, it's
already been requested for a CD compilation. EnergyUk.net had
the following to say about it:
Wasa B has been a consistently quality label,
and release number 4 is no exception. Following on from his
release as Wasa B #2, Eufex is back with Manipulate. We nominated
this as the EUK Bullet Tune on EUK Radio on 4/6/01, and we reckon
its destined for big things. As is the way often with Eufex,
its an eclectically busy uplifting groover, packed to the rafters
with tasty sounds and snippets. It follows on excellently from
Life On TV, and with the more adventurous DJs will find a lot
of favour. Recommended!
Wasa-B 005 - Karim & Kultcha "Wicked"
- is up in the Music section and advanced
whites should be out early July. This track will been used by
Karim in his upcoming mix CD compilation for Do Not
Bend Records.
Wasa-B 003 - Defective Audio "Check This Out"
- has just been licensed to Nick Lunn's upcoming Storm CD on the
front of M8 Magazine in July. Having recieved strong critical
support its being played by the full range of DJs from Sol
Ray to RR Fierce. Mark Tyler of Seven Magazine
had the following to say about it:
Sounds like the Brighton boys have more time
on their hands now (is that possible?) as there are more solo
tracks from Dom in various guises coming as well as new OD404
and Kaktai tracks appearing. Can't be bad! This particular track,
on Canada's DJ Kultcha's brilliantly named label, is absolutely
belting. Maybe Dom woke up angry, but who cares, lets piss him
off more if that was the case as this is hard and uncompromising.
The vocal 's been done before, but I can't hold that against
him. Especially when the whirring synths kick in after the break.
If this is the taste of things to come, we're all in for a treat!

Wasa-B 003 whites are officially out this week! It was
delayed by pressing problems at the plant but is now available

March 13th, 2001
Wasa-B 003 is available on white label starting this weekend
(full release is due March 30th) at Bangingtunes.com
- advance orders have been placed over the last couple of weeks
and if the number of people who have asked taken advantage of
that is any indication of this releases success, it will be massive.
"Check It Out" in real audio in the Music
section.
Wasa-B 004 is up in Real Audio in the Music
section as well. TPs have just arrived and you can expect to hear
people like Paul Glazby, Karim, Andy Farley, and DJ Kristian caning
it out over the next few weeks. The White Labels should be out
at the end of March...
Wasa-B 002 is still getting loads of attention - check
out the latest Upfront Magazine for a review and take a look in
the front for a little announcement about Wasa-B.
If you live in the London, UK area, Wasa-B records will
be landing @ Brixton Accademy March 26th to play for SunnySide
Up. Orange Peel and Vancouver's Kultcha will both
be slammin' it out.
Feb 6th, 2001
Wasa-B 002 is out on full release and should be available
at most records stores later this week. As always, Bangingtunes.com
is fully stocked and ready to ship. Energyuk.net has once again
given Wasa-B a strong support. This is from their latest vinyl
review update:
Eufex continues his run of quality releases
for a number of varied labels with his debut for Canadian label
Wasa B. Go! is a typically outstanding production, a rolling
groover full of energy with mad samples and sounds firing off
all over the place - quality stuff! On the flip is Life On TV,
yet another storming track, this time seeing Eufex dabble in
a little uplifting tunerie, most unusual for him! Again its
a superlative quality track that will be a pleasure to spin.
Check.
We are still getting plenty of support for Wasa-B 001,
with the latest news being that Trade
have just signed "Arcadia" to the latest Hard House
mix compilation - its a double disk affair mixed by none other
then Ian M!!!
Finally, Wasa-B 003 is up in real audio in the music
section. Another cutting edge double hitter by Defective Audio,
following in the footsteps of Wasa-B 001.
January 15th, 2001
Wasa-B 002 - Eufex's Go! and Life On T.V will be out on
White Label in the next two weeks. The full release will be out
in about 4 weeks time. We have received very strong feedback already
just from the Real Audio in our Music
section. Don't miss out, pre-order your copy from Bangingtunes.com
today.
Wasa-B 001 has recieved tremendous support for all over
the world. Emails have been pouring in and such notables as Karim,
Paul Glazby, Ian M and Ed Real have been
charting it. Here are some reviews:
by Mark Tyler for 7 Magazine
DEFECTIVE AUDIO - TURN THE HEAT UP (WASA B)
It says none of this on the press release, but Wasa B is a new
Canadian based hard house label and is the lovingly nurtured brain
child of one of Vancouver's top hard house jocks, DJ Kultcha.
Along with several other high profile underground Canadian DJ's
(including S4 from Ottawa and Indica from Montreal), Kultcha is
setting his sights on production/label management that will introduce
him to the UK market. First release is Dom Sweeten, one half of
OD404 and also solo as Base Graffiti with a clutch of cracking
tracks on the Pure Groove labels, so that immediately means you
get clever, very well produced, excitingly funky, but also re-assuringly
hard tracks that piss all over the standard off beat, factory
line bullshit there is so much of. Rant rant. Having firmly been
screwing the nuts onto the wheels of the bandwagon long before
most jumped onto it, it seems obvious that the elusive Mr Sweeten
is going to be one of the people to lead the way this year for
a genre that can so easily get lost at this point. Mark Tyler

Pat & Graeme - Energy UK
Another excellent release, now, and the debut release on the Canadian
Wasa B label. Turn The Heat Up is another excellent track to look
out for - it's a tasty, twisted groove with plenty of new and
interesting samples firing off all over the place. Sounding OD404-influenced
in structure, it thumps along twisting elements around all over
the place as it goes - great stuff. Check Arcadia on the other
side, more gritty looped chugging hard house with a fresh feel
to it - works a treat! This is a label that we'll have our eyes
well and truly on for future releases...
